At this point in your life, YOUTH 2000 may be just what the doctor ordered. But it’s also what the Pope ordered. At World Youth Day in Spain in 1989, Pope John Paul II challenged the world’s youth “to become shining heralds of the reevangelization, and generous architects of the civilization of love.” In response, the YOUTH 2000 initiative was born. Today, it’s worldwide.
All teachings and instruction at each YOUTH 2000 retreat are taken from scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, encyclicals and documents approved by the bishops of the Catholic Church. The liturgical practices at each retreat follow the guidelinesguidelines set out by the Vatican and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The goals of YOUTH 2000 are:
- To promote devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist through a worldwide network of youth gathered in prayer around the Blessed Sacrament.
- To promote devotion to Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, especially through the Rosary.
- To promote fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Magisterium.
